The California Gold Rush produced far more mining towns and settlements than most peple know. Many of these survived for a time after their heyday, but eventually people moved to other towns and mines, allowing these settlements to crumble to dust. Other mining towns disappeared under the waves of man-made lakes which flooded the river valleys where these towns once thrived. The only thing left are whatever histories one can find and a landmark with (hopefully) a plaque.
